PROJECTS BAC GIANG

We were pleased to welcome the Deputy Minister of Vietnam Foreign Affairs who visited our project in Bao Son together with a delegation from PACCOM, the Bac Giang Foreign Affairs Department, The  Leader of Luc Nam District, and the Bao Son Commune leaders. They highly appreciated and enjoyed seeing the impact being made by YWAM’s projects in social and economic development.

We visited the companies participating in the Swiss Create Award to communicate about the results of the first audit, and to check on the progress they are making towards  improvement. Each of the companies gave good feed back on the issues raised and agreed on a plan for improvement. Many enterprises have already made positive changes as a result of the audit.

Group advising and business visits

To develop a successful and sustainable business, business owners need to balance four roles that cover vision, organisation, coaching, expertise. Two workshops were held by our Swiss Consultant Mr. Mario Bruhlmann on the topic "The Coaching role for business owners"  in Kim Chung and Minh Khai communes. In the workshop, the participants shared with our consultant about their challenges and got useful feedback to develop their businesses.

In addition, the Swiss consultant visited some of businesses in the project area; help troubleshoot problems that businesses face.

The Leadership workshop in Ba Vi

More than eighty leaders and the core-officers from thirty town/communes in the Ba Vi district participated in a leadership workshop. Through this workshop, participants gained understanding of their leadership style, and to how manage human resources more effectively. We also aimed to promote a new mind-set and the importance of promoting a business environment.

Training for Leaders

The three-day workshop was held in An Khanh, An Thuong and Minh Khai communes. This attracted more than 400 leaders from many different departments and groups.  Dr. Phan Quoc Viet and his co-workers were able to effectively share about promoting new communication skills for raising awareness that  will contribute to  implementing the "New Countryside" Vision.

PROJECT IN VAN CON

Household visits

We visited all the households who received loans. Many of them many have a positive change after “Family Business” training.

Mrs. Dung’s shop has improved a lot. It is more attractive due to her displays being more ordered and the shop is much cleaner.

Lan’s family has been growing vegetables for many years. She and her husband have a good understanding of  farming techniques and plan to increase their vegetable production. But they need to be more active in finding markets and understanding demand to negotiate a better selling price.

We have also noted that some other families need more encouragement to keep better financial records.

Instruction is being given to Mrs Tan in Van Con on how to record both family and business expenses by a Board of Management member

BIOGAS'S PROJECT IN BA TRAI

We continue visit beneficiary households to check on the loan disbursement, and interest collection. In addition, public announcements and other meetings were organized  monthly.

Loi is very happy with her new desk

Another poor family in Ba Vi began building their house in 2014 but do not have the means to finish the roof. We would like to help them with this task.
